Change mouse setting in XP

From our series of XP tips n tricks in this article we would cover following tricks
  • Change the mouse speed
  • Change the scrolling options to scroll the entire page
  • Change mouse to highlight the window without clicking on it
  • Change the speed in which right click option open
We would use Power Toys software to perform these tasks. We have installed power toys software in our previous article.
Launch power toys tweak UI
Start ==> program ==> power ==> toys Tweak UI
Widow display all available options of menu items when we right click on it. With following option you could control the speed in which it opens.
Select mouse option
Speed slider showing in right pane control the speed at which cascading menu automatically open when you move mouse over the menu items. The fastest setting causes them to open immediately. The slowest setting is extraordinarily slow.
You can set this speed after testing here to test the mouse speed setting right click the test icon.
When you keep mouse on any object it sense it and give you a brief description about it with this option you can control time in which it should sense.
Select Hover subkey from mouse options
For a hover to be detected, the mouse must remain within a small region for the specified hover time. The size of the region is determined by the hover sensitivity.
To test the mouse hover settings move the mouse to the test icon when a hover is detected the icon will change
With this option you can control the default behavior of mouse scrolling
Select Wheel subkey from mouse options
Check the "Use mouse wheel for scrolling" box to enable the use of the mouse wheel to scroll data. When the mouse wheel is enabled you can specify whether rotating the wheel should cause data to scroll by a page or by a specified number of lines.
With this option you can do a tricky setting. Just enable it and mouse will automatically focus and select the window on which it would be
Select X-mouse subkey from mouse options
If you check the "Autoraise when activating" check box, then moving the mouse into a window will not only give it focus, but also raise it to the top as if you had clicked on it.
This setting requires " activation follows mouse " to be enabled for it to have any effect.
This setting is not available on all platforms. This is available only in pro editions its not available in home or basic editions
To test this setting open 3 windows and after enabling this options. Now rotate the mouse over these windows, you will when the window is now selecting automatically
